My Early Memories of Aunty Ev

Created by Patricia 6 months ago
Dear Aunty Ev, My earliest memory of you was in the 1950's.  I was a little girl (I'm now 75) and my Dad and I were walking to New Romney train station (steam trains then but latterly a victim of the Beeching cuts) to meet you as you were bringing your future husband, Arthur, to meet us for the first time.  This was followed by a lifelong relationship with you on your many visits to us with Arthur and your son Steve.  In more recent years you were, unfortunately, housebound but your spirit and humour never waivered.  You were always keen to hear what everyone in the family was up to especially the babies and children.  You took such pleasure in hearing how they were progressing and what they were up to.  You wasn't one to mince your words and you were mentally as sharp as a tack which was aided by having a go at the daily crossword.  You were an avid Strictly fan and loved your sport especially tennis and Wimbledon.  Andy Murray was one of your heroes.  Strictly and Wimbledon will never be the same without you but will be a constant reminder of you.  I thank you for sharing your life with us all.  Lots of love always.  Tricia xx
